More than 400 rare disease treatments in development, pending approval. My problem with this is 1) we have access to more pharmaceuticals than any other industrialized nation yet we are rated lower than 39 other nations in total morbidity and 2) how many of those drugs will be fast-tracked through the system and later we'll find out they have serious side effects that outweigh the benefits, just like the majority of drugs we see and hear about today with class action lawsuits. Has everyone forgotten about Vioxx and the thousands of people that died?
